Papyrus and The Grand Labyrinth
A 2.5 turn based rpg (2D characters, 3D environment), the game follows a cyclops going through his first year final exam at Papyrus Magic Academy. Tasked with venturing into the grand labyrinth, our small hero must navigate through battles, interactions, and the mysterious forces inhabiting the maze.

Wireframe & Prototype
While still a work in progress, we have done a lot of work, getting closer and closer to our finished game. Finished with all our 2D Assets, we are now focusing on tuning our game mechanics and 3D models so that we have a seamless and uniform feel to the game. Running into a multitude of problems throughout the weeks, both with programming, asset making, and the overall design of the game and its levels, our team was able to effectively communicate with one another, sharing ideas, solutions, and concerns. Everyone’s contributions, both through ideation and asset making, have helped create the game we have now, though unfinished, and have resulted in something that we are all proud of.
Early Sketches & Ideas
From the beginning of the game, we knew that we wanted to emulate Paper Mario, creating a 3D world filled with 2D characters and assets, but that’s where we wanted the similarities to end. In order to create an even greater juxtaposition between the 2D and 3D art, we decided to lean more towards chibi and cute 2D art, with low poly and horror-esque 3D monsters and environments.
